Haha! That’s awesome… I would’ve added cooler eyeballs though.

Thats for people who have a real Pirates of the Caribbean fetish!!
Stuffed toy, yes – wear, No.
September 27, 2007 at 11:09 pm
Hmm… Gotta send this to Pharyngula.
September 28, 2007 at 12:26 am
I think whoever crocheted that also made her dress…and did her hair…and makeup…
September 28, 2007 at 1:44 am
Is anyone else hungry for Calimari now??
September 28, 2007 at 8:49 am
Maybe as part of a Halloween costume, but it should never be worn in real life. And definately not around small children — would scare them half to death.

So, you’re getting ready to go out, you find a nice oversized outfit and think, there’s just *something* missing, what could it be. I KNOW! How ’bout a bright orange squid! That way EVERYBODY will be sure to notice me!
September 28, 2007 at 12:03 pm
For Halloween–this would be awesome! Is there a pattern available–and where can I find it???
September 28, 2007 at 3:26 pm
Actually I am not sure which is worse… the model or the scarf.
September 28, 2007 at 4:48 pm
The model looks like a cross between Olive Oyl and Heroine Chic.
September 29, 2007 at 11:35 am
At least you could hang yourself with it to put yourself out of your misery.
September 30, 2007 at 3:30 pm
Looking for the pattern, too…There’s a new Pirate restaurant that would love this!

Squids are peaceful creatures. It’s the model that scares me…
October 6, 2007 at 8:34 am
I think it’s fabulous.

You guys are serious assholes. This is one of my best friend’s sister and the scarf she made for her as a gift. She is the most creative person I know and digging on her crochet skills and making fun of the way that someone looks is fucking assholish. Get a fucking life and stop ragging on people you don’t know. And thanks for the people who complimented it.
October 6, 2007 at 10:40 pm
What is your problem. This model is a rare beauty who seems to be having fun with the hair and makeup modeling a unique and unusual creature. This is not for the abercrombie or gap crowd.

Thank the lord I don’t know the last three posters, who all clearly know/are the people involved with this thing.
Hey, last three posters: You can like whatever you want. But if your taste is so strange as to include squid scarves… you’d better get a little less sensitive about being poked fun at. It’s going to be a major feature of your lives.
Instead of shitting yourselves, maybe you’d be more effective at making yourselves look like sane, reasonable people, albiet with strange taste, by taking it with good humor, a wink, and an explaination.

This scarf is terrific! how creative! and what child would not love it, much less those of any age who are yearning for a unique accessory to complement their eccentric style? no, this wouldn’t pair well with a North face fleece or ergonomic shoes, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see this on the runway next week. No one is forcing you to wear it, why not appreciate the fact that someone actually thought to make this, and then DID make it. I hope this person continues to bring these fantastic scarves into the world.

Couldn’t have said it better Maryann…thank you.
November 10, 2007 at 11:21 am
oh my god, why would you want to wear something that looks like its trying to strangle and digest you.
October 11, 2009 at 6:50 am
Because it looks like it’s trying to strangle and digest you XD
November 29, 2007 at 11:07 pm
does anyone have the pattern for this? my friend’s obsessed with squids and I think this would make an awesome gift hahaha
January 5, 2008 at 9:04 pm
The scarf is AMAZINGLY cool! I want one! Will pay for squid!
Seriously, if the person who made it could offer some tips / a pattern, I will willingly pay for it.
As for why I’d want one, I wouldn’t expect to wear it to work or to the supermarket. But at a science fiction convention, or at a nightclub, or in some trendy place like Brighton where people go shopping for weird & unusual handmade clothing… well.

Personally, I think this is really very clever. I wouldn’t wear it myself, but I’ve quite a few friends who would, and I love making stuff like it for them. I get tired of crocheting pretty much what amounts to the same old hats, scarves, and blankets.
January 8, 2008 at 12:01 pm
I think it’s really cool! I don’t think I would wear it because it’s not my style but I’d have it in my house.
March 2, 2008 at 5:21 pm
I think this is very creative and fun! I found the designer’s website, with more squidpix, but no pattern.

Maybe if you email her, she’ll make the pattern available?

I am a thirteen-year-old H.P. Lovecraft fan and Pirates nut, and I WANT. It’s no something I’d wear as a scarf, but I could snuggle it at night.
August 5, 2008 at 7:03 pm
this scarf is so different and refreshing! who ever made it really thinks out of the box!
August 10, 2008 at 4:09 am
I think it’s wonderful!
April 30, 2009 at 11:37 pm
All cephalopods are awesome.
And the model is also attractive.
