But then again, perhaps Red Heart is onto something cutting edge and new wave! If you really want the “Checkerboard Sleeve” pattern, you can find it here – think about all the color possibilities and the myriad of outfits this will go with especially since it’s tied on under your armpit and fastened to your finger!

Many thanks to Luci, one of our readers, for sending this one in!

what is this, the final stage of recovering from a broken arm- the non itchy cast phase, complete with ventilation system?

Talk about your long glove!

Half a shrug?

I do not understand this item. At all. It just baffles me as to why anyone would want only one crocheted sleeve, especially one that hooks over the fingers. Is it sewn to the tank top at all, or just tied on with that string under the arm? What a dumb design. I just don’t get it.

Why the heck would ANYONE want to make this? This is a total and complete waste of yarn to me.

I just love how it attaches under the other armpit… thats got to be uncomfortable in about 2 mins.

There’s only one way I see this pattern working. Make two. Skip the glove part. Stitch to tank top. Maybe add crocheted lace around the collar and bottom of tank top. Now you’ve modded a garment. No way would that sleeve work as a standalone!

Is Red Heart now trying to compete with Lion Brand for fuggly patterns?

Her and her sister have an AMAZING book and they design for the younger crowd. I have their book and I love it and it does have that pattern. To talk about them is pretty funny since they are making bank off of this. All I can say is you can’t knock them if you haven’t tried any of their patterns or books.

I agree… Double Stitch Twins are quite popular. I am also laughing at the insults. #1 This isnt Red Hearts design its theirs. They have teamed up with the company. #2 This is what fits more toward todays generation NOT GRANNY’s.

I don’t care how many books the creator of this silly item have – fug is as fug does…

Everybody is entitled to their opinions…That being said, I am glad , no elated that the double stitch twins have created some very unique fashions. I don’t enjoy country/rap music but it still exists. Therefore, to each is own. They will continue to create as country/rap music will continue to be created. The world would not be what it is today if we all liked the same things. I also realize that some people don’t like change. The twins are definitely changing the face of crocheting. I crocheted one of their one sleeve patterns and my teenage daughter and her friend loved them. So, I will continue, as many others, to support what I like. I am just saying………..

I also believe that The Double Stitch Twins are very talented crochet designers and my opinion is this………IF YOU DON’T LIKE IT, DON’T CROCHET IT!!!!!!! But don’t down it either. Crochet is versitile and you are free to crochet what you want and don’t crochet what you don’t want. It’s your yarn and hooks do you but don’t down someone else for doing them!!!!!! Use your yarn and hooks to create something better if you can and live your own life!!!!!!

I really can’t believe how many haters there are in today’s world. All I have to say is this… Out of all of you that are running this pattern down – how many of you are published crochet designers that are supporting yourselves and your family with what you create? This world would be a much better place if people would remember the Golden Rule: If you don’t have anything nice to say, then say nothing at all!

This is creative and for the next generation of crochet artist like my daughter. Keep on twins, lovin it!!!! You inspire the youth to take up this craft. There are plenty of Granny patterns. DO YOU, it look like it’s working!!!!

I THINK PEOPLE WHOM ARE NOT AS CREATIVE ALWAYS FIND A WAY TO KNOCK THOSE WHO ARE DOWN. WHAT YEAR IS THIS? FASHION IS EVER CHANGING AND IF YOU ARE NOT DARING OR WILLING TO CHANGE THEN DOUBLESTITCH IS DEFINITELY NOT FOR YOU. AS LONG AS I HAVE KNOWN THEM THEY HAVE ALWAYS STOOD OUT IN FASHION AND BEAUTY AS WELL. THIS BLOG OR WHATEVER SHOULD NOT BE NAMED “WHAT NOT TO CROCHET” I HAVE A BETTER ONE “HOW CAN I STEP UP MY GAME TO GET ON DOUBLESTITCH’S LEVEL?” THAT IS ALL!!!!

It’s 2012 I think? And as they say, bad press is good press, yes? It’s been fun watching all the hits on this post – great press for the blog and for the Twins! Clearly a win-win.

LOL. To each his own. I personally love their work. This is not an item I would wear but it is indeed fashion forward and I know many who would wear it.
