And Happy New Year everyone! In case you were wondering what to wear this season…we have a suggestion for you. You’re sure to be the talk of the party and not in a good way.
I love looking at the model’s facial expressions in the pictures. The woman looks SO uncomfortable in that poncho-dress thing. The baby doesn’t look too thrilled either with that hood attacking her face!
Anyone notice that this is a CURRENT magazine? Yikes! Poor model – there’s just not enough wine in my house to talk me into wearing something like this.
She looks like she is in her “Happy Place” where she is wearing black silk with a hot man on her arm not in the kitchen hiding because she had to wear the “gift” that her mostly blind Great Auntie made her. Or she is praying “please let this photo shoot be over soon”
OMG!!!! I don’t know if I will finish typing this because I might die laughing….and somewhere out there some poor baby is going to have that on and his Uncle/Dad/much older adopted brother is going to walk in and say “I AM CORNHOLIO”. That made me take a trip back..
Jeez – I just found this blog and I HEAR YOU. There is so much that should never be crocheted. And this top is definitely on the list. Honestly – what are the editorial thinking. It’s a big fat waste of money paying the designer for designs like that. With knitting I stopped my ‘Simply knitting’ magazine subscription based on the fact there were barely any covetable items of clothing to make. They need to think they are putting people off. If you wouldn’t find it in a store it is unlikely anyone is ever going to want to make it!
Agreed. I actually saw this magazine on sale at a bookstore in my city and the sight of the ladies top was so bad, I just left the entire magazine on the shelf. Designers have to make things people want to wear (think Melissa Leapman) but this thing is AWFUL!!!
This is a great Blog, so many people just throw out free patterns and some are silly enough to crochet them without considering that they are not nice. Refreshing thanks
I think the designer was the one hitting the vino…and, ummm, doesn’t Crochet! magazine have editors?!? Which one of those nincompoops put this on the cover?!? And, if this is on the cover, then what the hell is in the magazine? It honest looks like someone looped together some ugly dishclothes…
It’s Fall 2010!!!!!!!!! It’s sweater weather and crochet is in big time!!!! This is what Crochet! comes up with? Glad I cancelled that subscription….it should be called Crochet?!?!
I’ll be the dissenting voice and say that I like the ‘idea’ of the woman’s tunic, just not the yarn choice nor the motifs, but the asymmetrical style is kind of appealing. However, the baby hoodie is atrocious, it looks like a diaper wedgie!

Hmmmm, the woman’s tunic or the purple hoodie?
January 2, 2011 at 6:27 pm
Either is worthy of WNTC but really it’s the woman’s tunic.

Wow! I can see why she is drinking, hoping to forget what she is wearing!! And the poor baby looks scared to death!!

That multicoloured wool used for the tunic is not safe for epileptics..!

That hoodie thingy is awful but that tank top/dress/tablecloth/poncho/bedspring/afghan is absolutely ridiculous.

Dear, I don’t remember what province you’re from, but I hope you’re keeping high and dry! And not wearing a fugly motif jumper.

The model appears to be in a staredown with the caption.
