How to get hosed? Buy $500 socks. Who commands such a price? An artist named Rodarte who I have no idea who they are but I digress…behold the holey socks…yes, I know it’s probably art but wow.
Holey socks? $500! Yuck response? Priceless!

The price is ridiculous but I have to say I actually love the socks.

Harvested, cleaned, spun, dyed the wool? Raised the lamb /sheep from birth? Made up his /her own pattern?

But you had a post about the Rodarte dress not so long ago?

No – Art it isn’t.

Pattern? What pattern? Those $500 socks have no shaping, it is a tube of netting. I think I could turn those out in a couple afternoons…. maybe I’ve missed my calling, I could sell $500 socks to get the kids through college!!!

If they were in a solid colour they would look much nicer, or maybe turned into (fishnet) stockings.
The $500 price tag would fit if they were made of spun gold.

Anyone who would pay $5.00 for this, let alone $500.00 has more money than they do taste or sense. It’s bad enough these sox are full of holes but the color is atrocious also. Yuuuuuuuk!

i hate socks with holes in them. i realy do not like my toes to poke out of them. that is usualy high time i either darn them or toss them. and those are just made up of holes. i can see the issue with the toes right away.

I actually have a pattern for crochet fishnets. But, they have an actual toe & heel in them. Wonder how much I could get for those? Then again, I use them for a Renaissance Faire costume….

I’d like the pattern. I can find a non-knit fishnet pattern.

Not only are these ugly, but anyone with a hook and yarn can make these WITHOUT A PATTERN.

WoW! this is the answer to all my financial woes. All I have to do is take a weekend to use up my nastyest home spun yarn and whip out these $500.00 socks. I’m rich…rich I tell you …( insert insane laughter here)

They look pretty uncomfortable, too. Not good for walking around in, I’d imagine.

Maybe they’re designed to disguise varicose veins??
